Rebirth of the DCEU with “The Suicide Squad”

Do you remember the movie, ‘Suicide Squad’ that came out in 2016? Well, neither do we. The movie looked to explore the role of misfits and villains in the society who are used by the American government as expendables to do risky assignments. Well, the movie was a critical and financial bomb, not only because of Jared Leto’s infamous Joker, and Will Smith playing Will Smith, but the involvement of WB in the movie as well. The DCEU has since been known to create mediocre movies that do minimal business in front of their rival giants, MCU.

So how do you try to defeat an almighty enemy? Simple, you bring their best director to make a movie for you. That is exactly what DCEU intended when they brought James Gunn to direct the sequel to Suicide Squad. Gunn’s project “The Suicide Squad” which was released this month, has earned nothing but praise for its direction, writing, acting, and VFX. Like the misfits in the movie, the cast is considered to be the most random ensemble ever. A British actor, an Australian actor, a Hollywood legend, a WWE legend, and an actor who was usually seen playing mediocre roles. They all worked together to bring, arguably the best DCEU movie ever. The movie has everything that no one would expect in a superhero movie—gore, swearing, nudity, bloodshed, killings, etc. How many times have you heard a superhero movie being given an R rating?
