Winter: Why We Love It?

When South Asians are asked, what they prefer between summer and winter, people usually answer that they love the cold. Let’s list down some of the things why this is.

  1. Winter Doesn’t Stay Long

It’s human nature that people usually prefer things that are they deprived of. Summer in countries like Pakistan, India and Bangladesh are long and hot. These countries are located near the equator, so it makes the summers very warm, and now Global Warming is adding fuel to this fire. So winter’s arrival is a lot like a relief from the pain of the scorching sun. Moreover, winter only lasts for 3 months, so people look to make the best out of it.

2. Fashion on the Streets

The punishing summer never really allows us to use our fashion sense properly. Putting on layers of clothes just for style is deemed suicidal especially in cities like Karachi. However, in winter, we can actually wear the clothes that we want, whether it’s a scarf, jumper, turtleneck, or a leather jacket. Furthermore, it’s actually really helpful for people who have a tough time covering their bodies with sticky and thin summer clothing.

3. The Food is Better

We’ll just list the food we will get to eat, and you’ll understand what we are talking about.

Fish, Saag, Oranges, Spinach, Pomegranate, Grapes, Meat (natural flavours), Grey Fruit, Dry Fruit, BBQ.

Yes, many of these foods can be eaten in summer as well, but would you like to do a BBQ with friends under the scorching sun of July? We can all agree that sipping coffee in winter is way cosier.

4. We can leave our rooms

Leaving our rooms can be torturous in the summer. The first thing we do when we get home is to turn on the fan. The heat sucks the light out of us, and it is the coolness of the ACs and fans that helps us survive. Then comes winter, shielding us from the sun.

Bonus: Our fathers won’t be scolding us to turn off the fans anymore.

Hey!! You made it till the end. We are proud of you. If you have some more time on your hands, why not read some other articles. We promise to entertain you 😊
